New generation spectrographs on large telescopes, such as the Prime Focus Spectrograph on Subaru, will give unprecedented insight into galaxy evolution and large scale structure at high redshift. Adopting spectroscopic targeting and photo-z algorithms to high redshift galaxies are therefore becoming very important. The task of the Masters student is to investigate the available high redshift galaxy samples and based on them, develop spectroscopic models that can be used to test algorithms for estimation of various physical properties of galaxies from noisy spectra. |
