Protonation of an amide bond, occurring in real proteins, can cause local conformational changes in the polypeptide chain. Through these local changes the native global conformation of the protein could change, occasionally leading to non-native misfolded or aggregated structures. The diploma work covers the DFT modelling of small di- and tri-peptide systems. Determination of the key conformational changes caused by the amide protonation. Identification of the new interactional networks and their molecular orbital background evolved due the protonation. |
