Both the strength and ductility of the materials are important topics in materials science, mainly for ultrafine-grained materials. In this study, the diploma-worker will investigate the strengthening and the mechanisms of plastic deformation in ultrafine-grained supersaturated AlZnMgZr alloy.
Investigation methods: depth-sensing indentation (DSI), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), focused ion beam (FIB), atomic force microscopy (AFM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), compression of micro-pillars.
